چکیده

During a fire event, the stability of steel structures may be compromised, and structural collapse occur due to loss their mechanical resistance as temperature increases. One solutions reduce this problem is protection with coating using enhanced fire-resistant mortars. This paper reports detailed experimental work aiming develop gypsum cement-based mortars for passive evaluate composition’s effect in final thermal performance. Two types specimens were tested: (i) small composed mortar (10 mm thick) one plate (ii) square section short tubular columns 20 coating. The evaluation was carried out by (a) measuring gradient between exposed surface protected under high temperatures mortar-steel interface (b) assessing columns. It concluded that compositions binder present better insulation than cementitious compositions. Additionally, introduction nano- microparticles silica still slightly improved tested

Comparison of the Effects of Different Fire Test Regimes on Passive Fire Protection Materials

In the past, HSE’s Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) has studied the performance of a variety of passive fire protection (PFP) materials in protecting a part-filled LPG tank subjected to hydrocarbon pool fire engulfment. However, this is only one potential fire incident scenario that can threaten a process vessel; another is a jet fire, perhaps resulting from an ignited release from a leaking ...

Behaviour of Passive Fire Protection K-Geopolymer under Successive Severe Fire Incidents

The performance of a fire resistant coating for tunnel passive fire protection under successive severe thermal loading is presented. The material falls under the class of potassium based geopolymers (K-geopolymer) and was prepared by mixing ferronickel (FeNi) slag, doped with pure alumina, with a highly alkaline potassium hydroxide aqueous phase. Its performance was assessed by subjecting a con...

The Use of Probabilistic Networks to Evaluate Passive Fire Protection Measures in Hospitals

This paper describes how probabilistic networks may be used to evaluate the effectiveness of different passive fire protection measures in contributing to fire safety in hospitals. In particular, study is made of the benefit of basic fire safety management, fire-resisting doorsets and the influence of self-closing devices. It is concluded that probabilistic networks offer a useful tool which ca...

Theoretical and experimental analysis of the heat absorbing profile in passive fire protection materials

Substances undergoing endothermic reactions are of wide interest in the development of materials oriented to fire passive protection. These components can be used as aggregates in usual building materials in order to improve the response under high temperature scenarios. The mechanism of action is based on the absorption of part of the generated heat of combustion by the corresponding endotherm...
